Royal family of Maharaja Benaras has been devoted family for cause of education and directed its energy to promote education and Indian culture, while many of Royal families opted politics after independence. The Benaras Raj Pariwar is having significant contribution in establishment of Benaras Hindu University. The then Maharaja Prabhu Narain Singh donated land and also funded to build the (Banaras Hindu university)

Erstwhile Maharaja Dr. Vibhuti Narain Singh was having keen interest for promotion of education especially women’s education and in his life time many colleges/schools for girls were opened. Inspired by his ideology the • Maharani Jayanti Kunwari laid foundation-stone and established degree college for girls (Inaugurated on 07.07.1995) named as “Maharani Benaras Mahila Mahavidyalay, Ram Nagar”.

The College Campus is situated just nearby Ram Nagar fort- “The abode of Royalty of Benaras”. The holly Ganges is just 200 meter west to the college. Land and building of college donated by Maharaja. To give impetus and for improving quality of education and atmosphere his highness Dr. Anant Narain Singh and Maharani Dr. Anamika Kunwar established trust “Mahrtaja Vibhuti Narain Singh Education Trust” . The trust facilitates the various educational institutions run by Maharaja family including this college and also provide funds as and when it is required his highness emphasize for providing better education to boast moral values in students. Graduation level courses in seven subjects, such as; Hindi, Sanskrit, Sociology, Medieval-History, Home-Science, Psychology, etc. started and being taught. The college initially affiliated to “Veer Bahadur Singh Vishwavidyalay, Jaunpur” which is now affiliated to “Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidya Peeth, Varanasi”.

From very beginning our primary concern is to achieve better result and provide quality education so that our girl students may be able to make themselves an. ideal citizen of the country and after passing from the school/college they may go in various fields to make their future bright and also create a happy world.

Statistical analysis of our performance is given hereunder from year 2000 onwards, which shows that we are doing better year to year and in last five years our performance is outstanding. (Enclosure -I)

We are proud to inform that around 45 to 55 percent girls are form Rural Areas and many of our students are form very poor family background. Under very cordial atmosphere of this college they feel proud that they may be able to get better education as well as they may be having place of proud in their families and society at large.

Maharaja Saheb Dr. Anant Narain Singh and Maharani Dr. Anamika Kunwar always inspire us to provide a platform to the students so that they may have technical/professional knowledge in addition to their course subjects. We are proposing to start computer education in coming year after competent necessary formatives and approval from computer Authority/Department. We are also proposing to start post-graduate level course for which formalities are in process and we hope to get some post-graduate courses affiliation in near future.

This college is having a good library with adequate number of books. Daily newspapers, magazine, periodicals are regularly subscribed. The library home is school home. We are also managing “Rovers/Rangers” camps every year from 21 s’ Nov. to 25th Nov. for our students.

“Rovers/Rangers course camp” provide community development and make students sociable and morally strong, we are also proposing for certificate course camp for final year students from year 2016.

The college having the canteen in the campus, so that students, teachers, staff members may have little refreshment and tea etc. inside itself. Our play ground is specious and well managed where our girls are free to play game of their choice i.e. Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Kabaddi, Long Jump, High Jump, Race. There is also arrangement for indoor games “Chess”, “Carom” etc. We are also proposing for some Yoga exercise from coming years so that willing students may participate in such programs. In this connection I would like to quote “healthy mind in healthy body” so education may be complete

in all respect if we provide equal opportunity for students to progress
physically and educationally both.

In college campus our students participate in many extracurricular activities and we organize every year tournaments. Some of the areas are: Debate, Essay Writing, Singing, Dancing, General Knowledge Competition Test, Chess, Carom, Kabaddi, Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Kho-Kho, Jump, Race etc. and they also given prizes basis on performance.

Home Science Department of our college organizes many courses which are useful to build carrier in those areas. For example: weaving, sewing, toy making, cookery clans, flower making etc.

Initiative and proposal are prepared of eligible students as per direction of Central Govt./ State Govt./ University for various scholarship and financial aid available to students and it is ensured by the college that benefit available to them may be given within prescribed period. Our college management also provides some facilities to some students in the way of free ship or financial help.

We follow university calendar and schedules. In the college, to promote interaction in students, visitors on various subjects invited where open session are organized. Many festival and government functions are organized and celebrated regularly with full participation.
